Description

The game is essentially a reinvention of the 1979 blast hit asteroids with improved graphics and a threedimensional playfield. By letting the asteroids orbit a planet instead of moving over a twodimensional playfield I managed to get a totally new feel which makes the game feel fresh and, IMHO, makes the game really fun. The goal of the game is of course to get to #1 on the highscorelist. The score is based on both your accuracy, skill and previous score so there is an element of strategy to the game aswell.

About the wraparound issue

First of all, thanks everybody for the feedback it feels really nice that people are actually taking their time playing my game and somewhat enjoying it. It makes it so much more worthwhile. Secondly about the wraparound issue; This is actually a deliberate design decision, let me explain. The smaller asteroids are in fact owned by the larger ones so they have direct access to properties of their parent which makes it easy to manipulate their orbit. At first a let the children (smaller asteroids) keep their parents momentum togheter with their new orbit but this made the game really, really hard. The difference between traditional asteroids and my version is that in the 1979 version you can always see the entire playfield as in my version half of the playfield hidden behind the planet. To let every asteroid rotate freely around the planet leads to complete chaos and is actually more frustrating than fun. Insead I increased the number of smaller asteroids spawned by the larger ones (in the 1979 version there are three children and in mine there are ten) which makes the game a whole lot more tactical as you can predict the asteroids orbits. As Albin mentioned in his post, even though you can exploit this in the early levels it gets to frantic after level three to stay still and as soon as you move the exploit doesn't work anymore.

Indeed.. where did I get the impression that you hated me... It's probably because I have a fever and my head isn't working right, combined with the fact that I suck at communication(or as I like to think I do). Moving on: Do you believe that my post regarding the exploit should have been avoided? I would have been very happy about such information.

Why do you think people hate you?
You criticized the game and I criticized your criticism, you don't have to take it personal.

When i said "This has nothing to do with you", I meant my post to patrik. Just to make it clear.

This has nothing to do with you Michael, why should i refrain from giving patrik valuable information about an exploit? If patrik for some reason wants to hate me for it then he can do so. But maybe he values such information.
