Swedish Game Awards hosted its second Game Developers' Evening on the 14th of February 2008. The guest of honour was Sun Microsystems, the theme was working with Netbeans 6.0 to develop games and apps for mobile devices.
The event was opened by Steve Olofsson, who held an overview of the timeline ahead and talked about the upcoming events. Steve also informed visitors of the newly announced category in cooperation with Sun Microsystems (More info on that here). Karl Palmskog then entered the stage to talk about the new and upcoming features on gameawards.se.
After the initial presentation by Steve and Karl, Kent Åberg took the stage to talk about Sun Microsystems and their goals and visions. He also guided visitors on where to find more information, and presented the Sun Student Ambassadors.
After a mingle break Petr Suchomel, Senior Architect in Sun Microsystem's Java & Developer Platform Group, held a two part session on Netbeans 6.0. The first part covered the overview, whats new in 6.0 and some useful features and tools. On the second half, Petr demoed some in-depth functions with Netbeans 6.0 and tools for developing games and mobile applications.
As a special surprise, the winners of the Warmup Competition; Martin Hjerne, Onni Qvickström & Kalle Ling was present, and they recieved their prizes for their impressive 1-week project Warchief Longhorn.
