On the 11th of March 2008, Swedish Game Awards arranged the third Game Developers Evening together with Avalanche Studios. As usual, the evening was started with Steve Olofsson, Project Manager SGA08, who gave a brief overview of the timeline ahead for the competitors. Karl Palmskog, head of Swedish Game Awards website development, demonstrated some new features and gave a map of whats currently being worked on.
After Karl & Steve, Magnus Nedfors entered the stage to talk about game design and what exactly a professional game designer does.
After Magnus Nedfors, Odd Ahlgren talked about the pros and cons of developing own IP's, pitching IP's to publishers, and how its done at Avalanche. During the break, visitors got a chance to mingle with the speakers, and participate in the Avalanche Challenge, which had a secret prize.
The final part of the evening featured Anders Elfgren, tools programmer at Avalanche, who gave lots of tips on how to get into the industry of game development, and how life can be as a tools programmer. At the end, Anders showcased a bunch of his own games and hobbyprojects. Finally, Linda Bäcklund and Nina Zhovnartsuk entered the stage to announce the winners of the Avalanche Challenge secret prize, which was revealed to be a special invitation to the Just Cause 2 release party.
