Report: GDE#1 with XNA

During the evening of November 30th, Swedish Game Awards arranged this years first Game Developers' Evening together with the XNA Game Studio European Tour 2007.

The event was opened by Steve Olofsson, who showed some features on the new website and talked about the upcoming Warmup Competition. He also showed the new Badges system and let visitors know that they could claim their first badge during the evening.


























After Steves introduction, Dave Mitchell, Director at Microsoft XNA, gave a speech entitled "The Ongoing Democratization of Game Development". Dave showed the Dream Build Play entries, and spoke well of the swedish game development community. During the speech, he also gave several demonstrations of games.

























Charles Cox took over the stage with two coding-sessions, the first one introducing visitors to XNA Game Studio 2.0 by coding a game in 60 minutes. During the second session Charles talked about the new features in XNA Game Studio 2.0, amongst others, the new network support that gives you access to the Xbox Live service.

After the speakers, visitors tried different Xbox360 games, and also got the chance to try the Dream Build Play finalists. Opportunity was also given to mingle with Microsoft representatives, including Dave Mitchell and Charles Cox.
