Swedish Game Awards arranged the fourth and final Game Developers Evening together with Starbreeze Studios on the 22:nd of April. As usual, the evening was started with Steve Olofsson, Project Manager SGA08, who gave new information on the prizes and nominations for SGA08. A total of 100 000 SEK will be given out in prizes. Karl Palmskog, head of Swedish Game Awards website development, demonstrated the technology feature recently got a new update.
After Steve and Karl, Robert Nyberg, HR Manager at Starbreeze, entered the stage to talk about Starbreeze as a company and how they work with games and publishers. A very informative Q&A session followed and was much appreciated.
Robert had brought with him several developers and artists from Starbreeze, and during the longer minglebreak, visitors got a chance to talk to them and get an even more personal view of Starbreeze as a workplace.
For the final part of the evening, Jens Andersson, Lead Designer on The Darkness and Jury Member for SGA08, gave a detailed look at how Starbreeze works with their own technologies. Jens demonstraded some key points with specially prepared animations from within a scene in the game engine. An interesting Q&A session followed where Jens answered a lot of good questions. It turned out that all three of our Concept Art Challenge winners was present, so we gave out the prizes to all three, the prize was a Wacom Bamboo Fun A5, congratulations to Cecilia Bexander, Björn Silfverberg and Rickard Westman!
